Mostly sustainable
Engel Natur
Deutschland
Engel Natur is one of the most consistent natural-textile makers in Germany. Both top standards — GOTS and IVN Best — regional production on the Swabian Alb with suppliers within a 40 km radius, and mulesing-free wool from Patagonia together form a coherent picture. The high price is the flip side of the high transparency.

Maxomorra
Schweden
Maxomorra is one of the few children's clothing brands with its entire range GOTS-certified. The designs are deliberately timeless and season-spanning — a counter-model to fast fashion that also extends the life of the clothing. A different positioning from Engel Natur: colourful and everyday rather than natural-functional.

Patagonia
USA
Patagonia delivers more sustainability substance than almost any other outdoor brand — from bluesign through Fair Trade factories to a consistent PFAS phase-out. The drawback: absolute CO2 emissions are not yet falling fast enough. For outdoor clothing, one of the better-documented options.

Vaude
Deutschland
Vaude is the most comprehensively documented outdoor brand in the German-speaking region. Ten years of Fair Wear Leader status, a full PFAS phase-out, Green Shape on almost all products — all verifiable in a public sustainability report. If you buy outdoor gear and want evidence rather than promises, you're in good hands here.
