OEKO-TEX Standard 100 – Tested for harmful substances in textiles: What this certification means
Category: Textiles / Clothing
What is verified
OEKO-TEX Standard 100 tests only the level of harmful substances in the finished textile product — not the manufacturing process and not the growing conditions of the raw fibres. Every component is tested: fabric, sewing thread, buttons, zips. Banned are azo dyes, formaldehyde, pesticide residues, heavy metals and PFAS. There are four product classes — the strictest (Class I) applies to babies and toddlers under three. The certificate is valid for one year. Important: the label says nothing about ecological production or fair working conditions.
