Our assessment
Mostly sustainable
Vaude is the most comprehensively documented outdoor brand in the German-speaking region. Ten years of Fair Wear Leader status, a full PFAS phase-out, Green Shape on almost all products — all verifiable in a public sustainability report. If you buy outdoor gear and want evidence rather than promises, you're in good hands here.
What we know
Vaude is a family business from Tettnang and was honoured in two categories at the 2024 German Sustainability Award. The brand has held LEADER status with the Fair Wear Foundation for ten years running — the highest attainable category in the annual Brand Performance Check, confirming exemplary management of social standards in its sewing facilities. Vaude is a bluesign System Partner. 97% of all products carry its own Green Shape label; since 2024 this requires at least 50% recycled or renewable materials. PFAS are fully eliminated from the 2025 collection, and CO2 emissions have fallen by 48% since 2019. There is also a Common Good Economy balance sheet and a voluntary sustainability report under ESRS.
