Lillis Zauberwald is a nature-focused parent-run kindergarten in Darmstadt-Arheilgen for twenty children aged two to six. Everyday life revolves around outdoor exploration, strong relationships and discovering nature through play.
Why we included this place
From the moment you arrive, it feels different from a typical kindergarten. Housed in a former family home with a spacious garden, children climb trees, build, garden and spend much of their day outdoors. Nature is not an occasional project but the foundation of everyday life, complemented by weekly forest days, seasonal celebrations and gardening. At the same time, the kindergarten places great emphasis on secure relationships, child-led learning and active parental involvement.
