Our assessment
Partly sustainable
Lillydoo is more honest than many competitors — the company openly states what isn't yet possible. MADE IN GREEN and production in Germany are solid evidence. The green line is a sensible compromise for parents who want to diaper more consciously without giving up performance. Those looking for biodegradable need to turn to other brands.
What we know
Lillydoo has carried the MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX label since 2019 and was the world's first diaper brand with this distinction. MADE IN GREEN goes beyond OEKO-TEX Standard 100: it tests not only harmful substances in the finished product but, via the STeP certification, also the production conditions and chemical safety in the manufacturing facility. Production takes place in Germany, and the pulp is FSC-certified. The LILLYDOO green line uses unbleached pulp, paper packaging and plastic neutralisation via Plastic Bank, without colourants and fragrances and without chlorine. The brand deliberately avoids the term eco-diaper: sodium-polyacrylate superabsorbents are still used, and the diaper is not biodegradable.
