Natrue
NATRUE – International natural cosmetics certification: What this certification means
Category: Cosmetics / Personal Care
What is verified
NATRUE assesses natural and organic cosmetics against strict criteria for ingredients and manufacturing processes. Only natural, nature-derived and nature-identical substances are permitted. Banned are silicones, paraffins, microplastics, synthetic colourants and fragrances, and parabens. Animal testing is excluded; ingredients from dead vertebrates are not allowed. There are two levels: natural cosmetics (base level) and organic cosmetics (at least 95% of the plant and animal ingredients from certified organic farming or controlled wild collection). Notably, at least 75% of a brand's range must be certified — this prevents greenwashing through single-product certifications. The certificate is valid for two years, with checks by independent certifiers.
