Our assessment

Mostly sustainable

Weleda is the market leader in certified natural cosmetics and, as a founding member, significantly shaped NATRUE. NATRUE on all cosmetic products, its own cultivation gardens, EMAS certification — the overall picture is consistent and backed by substance.

What we know

Weleda was founded in 1921 on an anthroposophical basis and is a founding member of NATRUE (2007). All 170 cosmetic products carry the NATRUE label. The company is EMAS- and ISO 14001-certified, maintains six of its own medicinal-plant gardens worldwide and more than 50 cultivation cooperation projects. The products are free of microplastics, mineral-oil derivatives and genetically modified ingredients. Production takes place in Schwäbisch Gmünd and in Arlesheim, Switzerland.
