PETA-Approved Vegan: What this certification means
What does this certification mean?
PETA-Approved Vegan identifies products that, according to the programme's requirements, do not contain animal-derived ingredients or materials. The label is issued by the animal rights organisation PETA and is commonly found on cosmetics, clothing, footwear, accessories and household products.
Its purpose is straightforward: to help consumers identify vegan products. It does not assess how environmentally or socially sustainable those products are.
What is verified?
Manufacturers declare that the certified product contains no animal-derived ingredients or materials.
For textiles, this includes materials such as wool, leather, down, silk and fur.
Cosmetics and personal care products must not contain animal-derived ingredients.
Companies agree to report any future changes to ingredients or materials.
PETA reviews the submitted documentation before granting approval.
The label applies only to the registered products, not automatically to every product sold by the company.
