PEFC
PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) – Sustainable forest certification: What this certification means
Category: Wood
What is verified
Sustainable forest management and an unbroken chain of custody: wood and wood products come from forests managed according to ecological, economic and social criteria. PEFC is the world's most widespread forest certification system and is strongly represented in Europe. Trust level Medium: PEFC was industry-initiated and is rated by some environmental groups as less strict than FSC — for example on clear-cutting, biodiversity and independent oversight. As a state-recognised, independently audited system, it nonetheless offers reliable proof of origin.
