Naturland
Naturland – Organic farming with social criteria: What this certification means
Category: Food / Agriculture
What is verified
Naturland differs from Bioland and Demeter in two key respects. First, the association operates internationally and also certifies farms in the global South — for coffee, cocoa or fish, for example. Second, social standards are mandatory, not just recommended: fair working conditions, a ban on child labour and protection of human rights apply to internationally produced raw materials too. Ecologically: full farm conversion, only 22 additives in processing, stricter animal husbandry than EU organic. Those who also want to demonstrate fair trading relationships and living wages can apply for the additional ‚Naturland Fair‘ label. Annual inspections by independent, state-recognised control bodies.
Certifying body
