Why we included this place
Herrngarten has long been one of Darmstadt's favourite places for families. The playground itself offers plenty of opportunities to play and is easy to combine with a walk, a picnic or a visit to the duck pond. However, we believe it is important to acknowledge the current situation. Since 2025, many parents have expressed concerns about the nearby open drug scene, and the city is actively discussing measures to improve safety and separate family areas from addiction support services. Our aim is to provide families with a balanced picture so they can make an informed decision.
